Keep Your Blonde Hair Classy, NOT Brassy!

Highlights are a great way to update your hair for a summer look, but it can quickly turn orange.

If you are anything like me, I color my hair from dark to light every few months. I suppose it is either 1. because I’m a woman or 2. because I’m an indecisive Libra.

But either way, I leave the salon with perfect blonde hair and soon after it becomes this awful orange brassy color.

Now, this is fine if this is the look you are going for. But I prefer a lighter blonde tone that is much cooler. In between visits for color I was going once a month to get toners. This is time consuming and to be honest, I hate going to get my hair done.

Well I’ve been dying my hair for YEARS and NO ONE told me about this amazing shampoo to keep my hair toned every time I color it!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Tauni  at Nine Zero One Salon  in West Hollywood, she has given me a miracle in a bottle. No more brassy hair for me.

I’m now using Unite’s Blonda Shampoo at home to keep the tone nice and cool. It is $26 and here is what it does. Instead of highlighted hair turning a straw yellow, it will keep your color vibrant and cool.

• Keeps blonde or grey hair vibrant

• Prevents blonde hair from turning yellow or brazzy

• Protects, strengthens and repairs while adding shine

• Free of Parabens and Sodium Chloride

To use it, I wash my hair with it and the bottle says only 1 minute but I leave it on for about 5 minutes to really deposit the color. You can see here it is purple and it leaves a tint to your hair.

On one of my favorite sites, The Beauty Department, they show what hair looks like before and after using the shampoo. You can see it tones down the orange to make hair more blonde.

So there you have it, at at home treatment to keep you looking classy, not brassy!

  1. Hi! Do you use Unite Blonda conditioner also? Is the Blonda shampoo your main shampoo, or do you alternate with another as well? Thanks!

  2. I recently went from dark brown to blonde and I keep finding myself getting my roots redone every month or sooner. I want to color my hair brown like an ombré so highlights like yours because I don’t want to get rid of my blonde completely, what would you recommend?

  3. Is this something that definitely depends on the brand? Because I’ve been using purple shampoo (ion brand at Sally’s) for about a month to combat brassiness, and my hair has been doing the strangest things each time I wash with it. Not all of my hair is blonde, sometimes I’ll step out of the shower and my hair will look much blonder and ashier even in places that weren’t originally that light, sometimes I step out and my hair looks even brassier than it used to before this whole purple shampoo experiment began. I wash 2-3x per week and I leave it on for about five or six minutes each time. I condition with a deep repair mask afterwards. Am I doing something wrong?

  4. i know sometimes it gets annoying when people compare you to others. But you kind of look like Nicole sherzinger (first pic) and kim kardashian (second pic). Pretty!
