NYFW S/S 2014

I cannot believe fashion week is almost here once again. It seems like I was just there in February freezing my legs off as I tried to wear skirts and oversized coats in the snow walking up to Lincoln Center.

Watching fashion shows on TV and seeing photos in magazines or online was something I always loved growing up. It was so exciting to me to see the trends for the upcoming season and how so much work goes into a collection and a show that lasts a mere few minutes.

The very first show I ever attended was J Mendel in September of 2011. As I sat behind the Olsen twins, I watched as photographers swarmed the celebrities, the room was filled with heat as so many people crammed into a small space.

As soon as the show started, it was incredible to see supermodels walking down the runway with high end designer clothes. It was really one of the coolest things I had ever been to. And then just like that, the show was over and everyone literally jumps out of their seat and rushes the doors to head to the next show.

Since then, I have attended two more fashion weeks the latest being February 2014. It was quite miserable trying to get around the city in the snow. But nonetheless, it was an amazing experience.

My favorite memory of that season was sitting in the front row next to Bill Cunningham. If you haven’t seen his documentary on Netflix, I suggest you watch it if you love fashion.

I’m sitting here reminiscing on past fashion weeks as I prepare for this year’s shows, events, presentations and of course … the parties. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter where I will be posting live updates and photos.

If you have any questions about fashion week, feel free to leave a comment or tweet me!
