Tips For Dressing Like a French Girl

I am semi over seeing Fashion Week photos on my instagram feed. #sorrynotsorry but I am excited to see all the photos from Paris. Of all of the fashion weeks, it is my most favorite. I am really bummed I’m not there, I had to stay in Los Angeles for work but my Mom is there (how unfair is that!?) Paris is and always has been one of my favorite cities in the world. So whether you are traveling there for fashion week, a quick trip or you want to add a little je ne sais quoi to your everyday wardrobe, I wanted to share some tips for dressing more like a French girl.

I love their style so much, it is NOTHING like Los Angeles. It reminds me of New York in a way but even more effortless. I became obsessed with Ines de la Fressange and bought so many items from the collaboration with Uniqlo and my transition into a more French friendly wardrobe grew from there. Other French style icons I love are Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot. And you obviously can’t forget the OG, Coco Chanel. There are some modern day style icons too, but no matter who they are, their style remains timeless.

There are some key items to add to your wardrobe like a Chanel bag and a smoking jacket made famous by Yves Saint Laurent but here are some things to remember.

• Keep your outfits simple, less is more especially in a classic palette of black and white. Navy is also popular, especially in stripes. Oh and grey too.
• Flats are friendly, especially if they are Chanel ballet slippers.
• Own an incredible blazer that can be paired with denim for an all around outfit.
• Mix new and vintage pieces
• Mix casual clothes with dressy designer items
• No Prints (except stripes!)
• Keep it minimal, this goes for jewelry, hair and makeup.
• Be classic, not trendy.
• You can look chic in denim.
• Try to be: Simple, Chic and Natural
