I know I’m not the only girl who gets lazy, especially after work or running errands. But for ONE week I vowed to dress up no matter where I went.
this post turned out to be more of a week of my OOTD (outfits of the day) but it really encouraged me to get ready every single day. If the item is available to purchase, I’ve added in links for all the items in the description of the photo.
If you have followed me on social media for some time, you’ll know I wake up really early for work. Because I am on camera every day, I do have to dress up. So in my time off, I look like a bum.
The last thing I want to do on my days off is my hair and makeup and I don’t want to dress up. I really am so lazy! But I wanted to vow to myself for just one week to get ready and look put together.
Why did I do this? Well because I really feel like when you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, the whole day just goes better. Plus, you never know who you will run into (especially in LA)
So here is my journey through the week and how I felt.
DAY 1:
I got ready for work that morning and actually took time to wash my hair. I usually do this at night, but the evening before I put a coconut oil mask on my hair.
What I wore: This day it was a high of 75. I wore a faux leather skirt from Forever 21, a cropped jean shirt from Haute and Rebellious fine a similar one here, Christian Louboutin cork shoes find similar here, Ray Ban rose gold glasses and a bunch of little bracelets.
I kept my makeup pretty simple, but I loosely waved my hair using Milani Hair’s Triple Threat Iron. I used the biggest size and wrapped big sections around leaving the ends out then straightening them with a flat iron about the bottom 2 inches.
How I felt: I woke up feeling good, I felt like I could start my day on a good note. I posted this #ootd to Instagram and everyone loved it! I was surprised how many girls liked it, so that made my day start out great.
At night I changed into this look, the dress and shoes are from Dolce Vita and the bra top is Love Haus. I was heading to dinner with friends and I usually hate wearing dresses to dinner in LA because I don’t want to be “that girl” but it was nice to go to dinner and dress up … plus it left room to eat lots of butter cake.
Day 2:
This was a Saturday and I usually look like a crazy bum when I go out on the weekends. Especially if I’m just hanging out with my family. My Mom and I visited the Getty Center and it was nice to dress nice but still casual for this day. I felt cute enough to take photos and now I don’t look so bad so in 20 years when I look at the memories my Mom and I had this day, I actually look presentable.
This is my new favorite crop top sweater. I’ve been searching for the perfect one and it is from Shop a Trend. I paired it with destroyed boyfriend jeans from Forever21, rose gold Ray Ban glasses I got at Intermix, my new sneaker obsession the Nike Free Inneva woven and a Chanel Camellia chain wallet that is the perfect day bag or for the pool
Day 3:
This was a Sunday aka my favorite day of the week. I generally wake up early, head to church, go to the Farmer’s Market and run errands in bummy clothes. But I took the effort to get ready, put on makeup and look good before I started my day. I loved my outfit here! It took a little extra time and I didn’t feel like putting it together this morning but I’m committed for a week!
Croptop is Topshop, denim shirt I got at Intermix, leather pants are Elise Overland with Zara Booties that are no longer in stores, a Hermes Collier de Chien cuff with the Chanel chain wallet I wore the day before and my glasses are my fav pair from Proenza Schouler. I went shopping this day at Melrose Trading Post and got a vintage fur stole. I had been looking for the perfect one for so long and I’m so so so happy I found this one. It is perfection.
Day 4:
This was probably the hardest day for me to wake up and get it together on a Monday morning. The evening before, I set my alarm for 6am, went to the gym then got ready for the day. I hate blowdrying my own hair, so this itself frustrated me. But I took my Mom to a taping of Chelsea Lately this day so I wanted to look cute when I went there as well.
The crop top is from NastyGal, crotchet shirt Urban Outfitters, shorts Zara and boots Louboutin. Everyone told me I looked like I just got home from Coachella. I called this outfit 4 Shades of Grey and I felt comfortable in warm weather in this.
A little later in the day I added this Zara blazer on top and it might be my new fav piece of my closet. It is available online right now and you can buy it here.
Day 5:
This morning I got outfit inspiration from a Coachella picture I saw of this girl.
So I found some things in my wardrobe that kind of looked similar. Now, dressing up everyday to me doesn’t mean being in heels and a dress. To me, this challenge to myself was to actually put some thought into my outfits and getting ready before I walked out the door. Because honestly, most the time I don’t.
My shirt is from Balenciaga is their join a weird trip tee and I think there are some on eBay, it is sold out now. Probably because Miley Cyrus wore it. I hated the sleeves on it, so this morning I cut them off and made it into a tank.
The shorts I paired it with I got from Melrose Trading Post from a little booth. If you are visiting LA on a weekend, I would go here on Sundays for good finds. Sunnies are Dolce and Gabbana and shoes are inspired by the Chanel Chain Boots and are from Shop Lady Raja.
So far, I feel good. I feel better about myself by getting ready every day and putting together outfits and finding items in my closet I haven’t worn in a long time.
So I forgot to take pics for the end of the week but I think you got the gist of it. When it came to the end of my week, I honestly felt funny not getting ready that next day. I really felt more confident to go about my day with my hair, makeup and outfit all put together. But hey, this is real life and I just can’t do that every day. But if I had more time to actually do it, it would be great!
Loved Day #4 ‘s look!! Refreshing to know that I’m not the only one who totally ditches the glam in favor of my fave sweats and sunnies to hide my face sans makeup. Glamming is definetly a commitment xxx
The outfits are stunning! And i totally get you. My morning make up is like meditation for me :))) after it im ready to start the day with positive mood
This has totally inspired me to dress up even more! I have the lazy days as well. Waking up at 5am everyday isn’t easy! But in the end looking fabulous is always a must! Your such an inspiration!
Such a cute post!
