What To Pack For NYFW

NYFW for Spring Summer 2015 has officially begun. As we kick off the week, you may wonder what on earth to pack. Clothes are the obvious necessities, but besides that there are some other key items you won’t want to forget to take with you on your trip of a lifetime.

Don’t forget your business cards. From the shows, presentations, events and showroom appointments you will meet tons of new people. Instead of trying to yell over the crowds your Instagram handle, hand someone a pretty card instead. Ask for one back too, just incase they lose yours. A good tip is to enter it into your phone immediately and send a follow up email so you are fresh in their minds.

Bring your camera along if you plan on posting outfit photos. I think they are a little bulky to take to shows, I did this my first NYFW … rookie mistake. I shoot with a Canon t5i and a 50mm 1.4 lens. If you need photos, you can always find the ones taken by photographers. If taking video, bring a small camera instead and honestly my iPhone takes great video for follow up vlogs.

But since you will be using your phone a lot,  you will need a cute extra battery. Being out an about all day all over the city with a dead phone is no bueno. Often your tickets and confirmations for shows are in your email or you need your phone to call for an uber, because I cannot seem to figure out the Subway system in New York.

You will more than likely be running from place to place and walking all day, so keep a pair of d’orsay flats with you so your feet don’t die by the end of the day. A good pair will still  look incredible with that outfit you so carefully curated.

Some shows are really early in the morning. This means you either 1 won’t have time to do your makeup, 2 it will be sunny or 3 you mayyyy be a little “tired” from a party the night before. But thats OK, thanks to statement sunglasses. This will shield your face when walking into Lincoln Center and the cooler they are, the more likely someone will snap snap you walking in.

Finally, you will need to put all of this stuff into something. A Chanel boy bag isn’t gonna cut it. My favorite bags of the moment are from Mansur Gavriel. I’m almost positive you will see them all over during fashion week. I love the sleek leather, the minimal design and the pale pink is an incredible color. The totes and backpacks will fit all your things in there while still looking cool. They are also great to wear day to night.
